ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN I

"Any architectural work that does not express serenity is an error"

- Luis Barragan

In this module, students are exposed to the perception of self and body, construction, materiality and tectonics. The creation of intrapersonal space is assisted by the knowledge of body movements and user experience, as well as anthropometrics and ergonomics.

MODELS AND TATTOOS: EXPRESSIONS THROUGH DESIGN ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES

We were required to explore various key architectural design elements and principles in order to translate them into form in terms of models, as well as express them in artistic tattoo stamps.

TECTONICS: DESIGN PRINCIPLES, ANTHROPOMETRIC AND ERGONOMIC EXPLORATION

With timber and a selected supporting material, we were required to come up with a design intention in order to integrate it with anthropometrics and ergonomics into our tectonics. The complete scaled model were required to accommodate a static banal action.

INTERPRETATION AND REPRESENTATION: PRINCIPLES, TECTONICS AND SENSORY

We were required to produce a reinterpretation of our tectonic, further developing articulation and sensorial experience to highlight the beauty of the banal action chosen. Following this, we had to depict our model in a series of orthographic drawings as well as clear architectural abstract depictions of our narrative.
