FARNSWORTH HOUSE
This project follows four parts; Modelmaking, Orthographic Drawings, Axonometric and Perspectives. Through the project, we were able to have an in-depth understanding of the architectural detail and spatial values of Ludwig Mies van de Rohe's Farnsworth House.
PROGRESS
After the project brief, I immediately started on the 1:100 model as I predicted it to be time- and labour-intensive. I used foam boards for the roof and flooring, square balsa sticks for the pillars and staircase as well as clear PVC sheets for the glass walls. Besides that, I also made sure to include human scale models for context.

After that, I started to draft out the axonometric on butter paper, utilizing a T square and a 30 degree set square, to create a 30/60 degree axonometric drawing. Once completed and approved by the tutor during tutorials, I transferred the drawing onto actual paper and outlined it with ink, with appropriate line weight in consideration.

Lastly, I worked on the perspective drawings. We were required to construct drawings of Farnsworth House in one- and two-point perspectives. After watching the online lecture tutorial on the proper method to construct them, I made drafts of each perspective drawings. Once completed and approved, I transferred them onto actual paper, as well as adding human models and surrounding environment for context.
