NATURE INFOGRAPHIC POP-UP POSTER
TASK
We were required to produce 4-6 A2-sized boards of infographic Nature Pop-Up Posters. We needed to give a title to the infographic poster to emphasise the specific study of nature.
My group was assigned the study of the atmosphere in the tropical rainforest. We entitled our project "The Green Heaven".
PROGRESS
In the beginning, our group had already determined the layout for the boards. We planned to integrate the rainforest across the boards and place the information along the sides of the rainforest trees. However, during the first tutorial class, we were advised to revise our information as it was not suitable for the layout that we were going for. As such, we decided on information of the different rainforest layers and elaborating on the flora and fauna as well as the atmosphere for each layer.
-
We decided to use the Venus flytrap as our main flora and the giant anteater as our main fauna and started carrying out study for these elements. After determining the information that we decided to put in the boards, we started drawing and colouring the different species of trees using watercolour as the medium. We tried to devise a flow to our information so it would be interesting to showcase during the verbal presentation, going from the emergent layer to the forest floor, then presenting the non-related data such as food web and conservation when looping back up the other side.
OUTCOME
During the verbal presentation, we were pleased that we managed to showcase our board informatively as well as preserving and highlighting the flow of information well. After presenting, we received critical feedback from the senior panel. They urged us to emphasize more on the main flora and fauna, utilize board space more efficiently and cut out any unnecessary information from the boards.
REFLECTION
Throughout the assignment, I learnt how to work as a team. I understood that the assignment required us to split tasks into several parts so that the workload will be easier. We also had to be cohesive and uphold the spirit of teamwork. Besides that, I also realized that I had gain confidence. Being one of the presenters during the verbal presentation, I made sure that I thoroughly understood the source material as well as the information flow prior to the presentation so that I could present smoothly. At the end of the day, I had newfound confidence in myself as I felt that my presentation had proven effective.
